The Nepali Honey Hunters

Twice a year, Nepalese risk their lives to harvest honey, best known for his hallucinogen properties, from hives hung on the side of tens of metres high cliffs. The substance is considered to have medicinal properties. These cliffs are located in the jungle at the foot of the Annapurna mountain range, which has the 10th highest peak in the world. The coveted substance comes from the giant Himalayan bee, the largest foraging bee on the planet. Once harvested, the honey is distributed to the villagers, then sold to the inhabitants of the neighbouring villages, as well as to the few tourists passing through the locality. Tourists pay about $45 per half litre, which is just under a month's salary in Nepal.
